Gray mist swirled around the trees as cats stepped out of the shadows. Leaves flickered throughout the trees and ferns rustled. Prey lay hidden in their borrows and leaf matter lay thick on the forest floor. Moonlight cast dim shadows over the scene. The cats' limbs were swollen and bloody. Some were limping and supported by others' shoulders.
"It's over," A blue gray she-cat panted heavily.
"But is it really?" A white tom pushed past the others, his jet black feet discolored with his own blood.
"Jayfeather and Lionblaze sent them away," A fiery tom spoke.
"But where?"
The ginger tom blinked,"I don't know,"
"Then how do we know they won' come back?" The white tom argued.
"We won't, only Rock will know, and he won't even tell us," Another cat spoke, he was a large, long haired, white cat with huge blue eyes.
"Where is Rock anyways, I didn't see him fighting for us?" The white tom with black paws mewed sarcastically,"How do we know he isn't stuffing our ears with thistle down?"
"Has Rock ever lied to us?" The blue gray she-cat murmured. No cat answered.
"What happens now? Do the three just go back to things normally, or what?" A small tortoiseshell she-cat whispered into the blue she-cat's ear.
"I don't know, Spottedleaf. The clans must decide this for themselves," The she-cat's eyes sparkled dimly as the pool that the cats surrounded began to shimmer.
"Something is coming," Spottedleaf murmured,"A prophecy is making itself known," All the cats pushed closer to the pool, edging themselves ever closer to it's blue depths, yearning for a peak.
"There will be five, who bring the four to one," Spottedleaf whispered.
"But we've heard this already!" The white tom with black paws yowled.
"Ssh! Something more is appearing!" Another shouted. As he spoke, another ripple on the surface made tiny waves lap at the paws of the starry cats.
"Bonds are forming," The ginger tom whispered.
"But something stirs in the hearts of the new," Another ginger cat padded through the group, her pelt lighter than the toms. The blue gray she-cat saw Spottedleaf's coat twitch in agitation.
"Bonds are forming, but something stirs in the hearts of the new..." The ginger tom said thoughtfully before continuing,"What does it mean? Why would they send two prophecies?"
The wind whispered heavily over the cats, sending chills down the coats. The stars in their pelts ruffled heavily casting dim light over the pool. Leaves fluttered down from their branches, like a feather floating lazily to the ground. Blood trickled form the wounds from the cats ever slowly, though they felt no pain from them anymore. It flowed into the pool casting crimson onto the pebbles surrounding the pool, slowly descending to the bottom with the reeds that poked through the top. The reeds poked through like whiskers and two large boulders were placed in the middle like smoky gray eyes of a bright ginger tom. No cat was paying attention as the arguing grew louder, about whether to tell the clans about this, or wait for another sign. The pool grew darker with the flowing blood, but gray clouds slowly drifted across the night sky. Soon, the clouds grew heavy it poured down on the cats. Slowly, they all made their way away from the pool and into the shelter of their dens. the pool's ginger presence dissipated and returned back to normal.
